Students work on a semester-long project in cross-university teams within the module Modern Human Resources Management in the study program International Business Management (B.A.) at Hochschule Fresenius and the module Management of Human Resources at Adelphi University.

Tasks & Challenges

Students will be assigned to teams of 4-5 people representing both universities. All involved teams will choose a diversity topic from a list of driving HRM topics and explore in depth one issue related to this topic.

The final deliverable will be a 3-5 minute video recorded on Zoom in which each team member participates. Throughout the teamwork phase, teams hold Zoom meetings to plan how to research their topic. They hold check-in meetings with their instructors to discuss initial findings and aspect of their topic they want to study in greater detail. They also get organizational assistance from the TAVEC administrative team.

Cross-university student teams will examine various aspects of the issue of diversity management in both Germany and the US, as well as the global context, allowing students the opportunity to explore areas of congruence and discrepancy. The project will cover both the aspects of the management of diversity and diversity training. The chosen diversity topic will be explored in the following areas.

Understanding diversity groups and their current and historical challenges
Diversity and society
Discrimination
Legal frameworks
Company policies, Corporations and diversity guidelines and culture
Statistics and corporate measures targeted at specific diversity groups

Diversity Training

Examination of individual identities and group membership
Exploring conscious and unconscious biases
