Students will be assigned to teams of 4-5 people representing both universities. Each project team chooses two companies in their preferred career fields, one based in the US and one based in Germany and work on a SWOT-analysis. They get in touch with two professionals of these companies and interview those professionals on their career path. They record these interviews. In their second project, students reflect all the course learnings and intercultural experiences of the course and come up with a creative team project about them.

Throughout the teamwork phase, teams hold Zoom meetings to plan how to research their topic. They hold check-in meetings with their instructors to discuss initial findings and aspect of their topic they want to study in greater detail. They also get organizational assistance from the TAVEC administrative team.

Students collaborate in project teams and prepare for trans-atlantic job applications. They focus on gathering more information about their preferred career field and examine cultural and legal differences in HR in Germany and the US.

They get first-hand insights from professionals about certain career paths and broaden their professional network and gain a deeper understanding of the job market and explore areas such as:

• Required qualifications, educational and career paths
• Roles and responsibilities
• Wages, employment projection
• Potential employers, job attractiveness

Our Business English students from Hochschule Fresenius University of Applied Sciences in Cologne and our Business Communications students from Adelphi University in New York reflect on their joint project work.
