The product of this project is a student-run website showcasing a poem about international teamwork, the “perfect interview” and the student-led career research interviews with professionals from the field. Entering the Fashion Marketing World: New York vs. Cologne

The fashion industry consists of significant elements and understanding marketing is one of the core elements. In order to understand how to make promotions, sales, and intrigue customers, this group of students created an accessible website for those interested in fashion marketing. It helps fashion seekers obtain the right advice and tips from fashion marketing professionals. The students gained expertise advice from popular retail companies in Europe and America. Between Sweatshops and Startups – The Impact of Covid-19 on the Fashion Industry

This project focuses on the impact of Covid-19 on the fashion industry, and how companies have dealt with the crisis overall. It deals with how circumstances changed for employees working in sweatshops and for sustainable fashion brands and how online shops prevent companies from going bankrupt.
Importance and Definition of Communication

This project group analyzed different types of communication and the differences in perception towards the definition of communication. They examined the importance of cross-cultural communication in daily life and in the business world.
Marketing in the 21st Century

Social media marketing is one of the fastest growing marketing opportunities in 2021. Utilizing skills and key points included in the marketing curriculum at both universities, in accordance with career research advice from professionals from the US and Germany, this project utilized Instagram as a platform to define the wide array of tools social media provides. This group proved social media’s importance and growing functionality in connecting professionals, providing transparency to brands and corporations, and contributing to an entirely new creation of professions. Disability – How can today’s Disability be our Ability tomorrow?

This project is looking on how German und US politics is engaging the topic of disability to improve the life of people affected by disabilities. The students compared numbers and laws and examined differences between both countries. They talk about personal experiences, and discuss opportunities and necessary changes needed in today’s society.
Age Discrimination

When people talk about discrimination, age usually doesn’t come to people’s minds straight away, but rather other characteristics. With this project students provide information on the topic of age discrimination, comparing Germany and the US in legal terms and in terms of perceived discrimination. They examined the topic from different perspectives and outlined various facets of discrimination. They discussed possibilities to bring generations closer together and actions to prevent discrimination.
Wheelchair Users across International Borders

This project group focused on wheelchair users in Germany and the US while presenting and comparing collected data, laws and regulations, as well as examples and experiences of wheelchair users in the workplace.
A Talkshow on How should International companies navigate the challenge of different cultural environments? – Example of Nike, Inc.

This project identifies factors that should be considered in cross-cultural management of international companies. Students define which actors influence the way companies do business internationally and answer the research question: How should International companies navigate the challenge of different cultural environments? Applying a case study of Nike company, they illustrate practically how things are managed cross-country, such as in the US, Vietnam, and Pakistan. Since cross-cultural management is a challenge for many international companies this study provides valuable theoretical background for all international companies struggling with cultural diversity and gives recommendations for improving cross-cultural management. Students presented their findings and outcome in a simulated talkshow.
Ethical Workplace Management at Amazon

This project deals with the ethical workplace management of Amazon. Students examined how the German and the American labor conditions differ both in an ethical and a legal context. They did a digression on the relevance of unions both in Germany and the US and examined how communication between unions and Amazon took place in the past.
Corporate Culture and its Impact on the Society – A Study of the Volkswagen Group

This project focuses on the role of an international cross-cultural business and the impact on the societal values in the US and Germany. It explains the interaction between a nation’s culture and a business culture in both countries and deals with corporate social responsibility in both the US and Germany. All findings are portrayed by the example of the Volkswagen Group.

This project focuses on privacy laws and restrictions in Germany and the US and exemplary shows how Google as a multinational company operates differently among these two countries with regard to the legal situation.
A Podcast on Digital Healthcare in Germany and the United States: How is the growing digitization being taken into account in the development of leadership personalities?

This group examined digital entrepreneurship and leadership aspects from the perspective of two US and German companies operating in digital healthcare: m.Doc and Klara. They compared both countries’ perspectives on the role of leadership personalities in start-ups, and gave advice to future passionate entrepreneurs on going towards entrepreneurship and on mastering challenges. This project group produced a podcast simulating being the CEOs of both companies.
Leadership Perceptions in the Beverage Industry

This project deals with different perceptions of leadership perspectives in Germany and the US. To examine potential differences, students had a closer look at two different start-up companies, true fruits from Germany and G-Fuel from the US. They examined the companies’ perceptions of marketing measures, analyzed how they use the growing opportunities of digitization and discovered their views on sustainable business models. They investigated how the entrepreneurial ideas and personalities of both companies’ founders were portrayed in the companies business operations.
