An opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of an effort to prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States. Adelphi University encourages all students, faculty and staff to participate by attending a variety of exciting events. The ‘International Education Week’ took place from November 16-20, 2020.
On October 8th 2020, undergraduate students of Hochschule Fresenius‘ and Adelphi University’s Human Resources Management courses had the great opportunity to listen to Mr. Iadevaio from New York, Vice President of Diversity & Inclusion at L’Oréal USA, who held an inspiring talk about Diversity and Inclusion. As a former Adelphi alumni, Nicholas Iadevaio discussed with students what diversity and inclusion means, raised awareness for dangers of stereotyping and barriers to inclusion and let students think about their own experiences with stereotyping. Iadevaio encouraged students to take part in a lifelong journey of learning. Since we are all diverse, diversity is a strategic driver in human resources management. This was easily confirmed by a little experiment that Amit Ray, lecturer for Modern Human Resources Management, initiated at the end of the talk. He asked all participants to show how they count to 3 on their fingers. The result shows the overall existence of diversity.
