Germany, Chile, Indonesia – These countries and even more cultural influences are the ones which come together in our international administrative team at Hochschule Fresenius in Cologne and make the daily work life in an intercultural team very exciting and diverse. Our TAVEC project coordinators and assistants introduce themselves and talk about cultural challenges and benefits they experience in such a cross-cultural setting.

Mary Tullis Engvall is Senior Director of Corporate Responsibility at Cigna corporation, a global health service company with roots in the US, serving more than 180 million customers and patients throughout the world.

On December 8, 2020 at 5:00pm (German time) she will be joining us in a webchat from California, where she will outline the responsibilities in her role at Cigna, as well as discussing the following questions:

• What is the distinction between responsible actions and responsibility?
• Shared Value Strategy – Real or Imagined?
• How does a company deal with ESG Ratings, Rankings and Reporting?
• Who’s really responsible for a company’s ESG Performance?

On October 8th 2020, undergraduate students of Hochschule Fresenius‘ and Adelphi University’s Human Resources Management courses had the great opportunity to listen to Mr. Iadevaio from New York, Vice President of Diversity & Inclusion at L’Oréal USA, who held an inspiring talk about Diversity and Inclusion. As a former Adelphi alumni, Nicholas Iadevaio discussed with students what diversity and inclusion means, raised awareness for dangers of stereotyping and barriers to inclusion and let students think about their own experiences with stereotyping. Iadevaio encouraged students to take part in a lifelong journey of learning. Since we are all diverse, diversity is a strategic driver in human resources management. This was easily confirmed by a little experiment that Amit Ray, lecturer for Modern Human Resources Management, initiated at the end of the talk. He asked all participants to show how they count to 3 on their fingers. The result shows the overall existence of diversity.
